Barbara Morgenstern – Brainfuck – Tune Of The Day – 28.08.2018

What a track, built around the insistent repetition of the kantele (I think?), the low drone of the saxophone and the glitchy electronics, the hypnotic intro lulls you until the initial shock of “Brainfuck”. The juxtaposition between the mood of the music and the lyrics is a beautiful surprise. Reminiscent for me of David Bowie’s “Blackstar”, it’s a wonderful song.

The superb video for “Brainfuck” is by Yaneev Topyol. Barbara Morgenstern’s new LP “Unschuld & Verwüstung” (Innocence & Devastation) is out on staatsakt on 19th of October. Can’t wait!
