Alternative headline “Schrammeliger ding dong, there ain’t nothing phony about Jetstream Pony.”
Well now, what have we got here? Only one of the finest indie-pop songs you’ll hear this or any other day. We are privileged to premiere the new video for “Self-Destruct Reality”, the lead track from the new Jetstream Pony EP, released 13th July 2018 on limited 12“ white marble (?!?!?) vinyl by our favourite label, Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten of Augsburg in Germany.
Where to start? The immaculate rhythm section? The faultlessly beautiful guitar intro? The candy-sweet vocals/melody? The track carries a really raw in-your-face punch too that just makes you want to play it again and again (which is what I am mostly doing today).
Jetstream Pony features SWIT-fav Beth Arzy (Trembling Blue Stars/Luxembourg Signal/Lightning in a Twilight Hour) on vocals, Shaun Charman (The Wedding Present/The Popguns/The Fireworks) on guitar and backing vocals, Kerry Boettcher (Turbocat) on bass and Sara Boyle on drums. I can’t believe we haven’t asked them to do an interview yet! So that’s a must.
The evocative, sepia-toned video was filmed in Munich and at the City Club in Augsburg, April 2018 and was compiled and edited by Danny Boyle (yeah, that one).
Jetstream Pony are playing London Finsbury (Get In Her Ears night) on Friday 13th and at David Gedge’s (The Wedding Present) “At The Edge of the Sea” festival on Saturday 11th of August. (God pardon us, nor harden us; we did not see so clear, The night we went to Bannockburn by way of Brighton Pier).
Speaking of self-destruct reality will it be Croatia or England that find their dreams were just that tonight? Will it be because of an unforced howler or a moment of sublime skill? Will England expect as England awaits? Will time stand still for a thousand seconds as a singular ball rushes towards it destiny? Will Gareth Southfork finally remove his ridiculous….[That’s enough football. Ed].
