Struth! It’s Lake Ruth, ain’t that the truth?

Lake Ruth – One Of Your Own

Lake Ruth first came to our attention via their super remix of Le SuperHomard’s “Dry Salt In Our Hair”. This is “One Of Your Own”, their wonderful new single. The song nods in the direction of many new wave progenitors, putting me in mind of The Associates, early early Simple Minds, even a touch of Joy Division. Having said that, it’s a much sweeter confection, with a heart of pure pop. Allison Brice’s luscious, pristine vocals take it to another level altogether. “One Of Your Own” is from the eagerly-anticipated sophomore album “Birds Of America” (Feral Child Recordings).

Cover art features a detail from Edinburgh artist Alan Mills, Jr’s 2016 painting “The Birth of Socialism”. Socialism is our favourite and our best.
