Wakambi – The Struggle Is Real
Okay so we fired up the SWIT balloon and found ourselves over Namibia where we turned on the SWITulator and it picked up this cracking piece of music by Wakambi. The Struggle Is Real sounds like a classic already. I dare you to listen to it and not be completely hooked. This can be found on their debut EP #BDC. Superb listening
Some info from their Bandcamp page
“Wakambi is a funk rock/hip-hop fusion formed in Walvis Bay, Namibia in 2015. The 4-piece project was brought together by the love for music and mythology, blending Afrikaans spoken word with English vocals. Wakambi are Nomad Beukes, Izzy Martin, Tyron Roetz and Tara Jay.”
Wakambi’s name and music pays tribute to Credo Mutwa, a Zulu sangoma and author. The name means ‘the first people’.
