We don’t like to crow but we love Jane Doe

Jane Doe – Midnight Spell

Anna De Andreis dropped us a line “I would like to send you a song by my band, Jane Doe.The song is titled “Midnight Spell”, and is the first song of our first EP, Midnight Spell.I liked your page, of course!” Well, it would be rude not to. Midnight Spell has certainly weaved its magic on me. It’s a spare and atmospheric bluesy folk balad, with a tale to tell, beautiful vocals and really lovely guitar. It’s perfectly apt we head towards Halloween, my favourite time of year when midnight spells are de rigueur. The band say “Inspired by blues, traditional music, folk and country, Jane Doe’s musicians compose in English but also in Spanish, mixing effective rhythms and vocal harmonies with the subtle presence of the oriental lute.” You know Sting ruined the lute for me, but thanks to Jane Doe it’s now been completely rehabilitated.
