People try to put us down but we keep coming back for more. “More what?” I hear you ask, why, more smoking hot tunes of course – just spin Leska, Hold And Release, The Sunjays, Oh Joy, Kid Francescoli, Syrian, Sophia Somajo, Outside The Circle, Ennanga Vision, The Loch Ness Mouse, Parvaaz, Autre Monde, Naked In English Class and Laboratorium Pieśni. Remember – nobody puts SWIT in the corner.

We’re all going to Bonaroo, we’re all going to Bonaroo…and the reason why? Because of this magnificent live perfromance by Warpaint. Wowzers!
“What is your favourite song that you’ve written and why?
Mic: ‘Teknicolor’, because it reminds me of fucking “Black Friday”, such a stupid, useless day.” Michele, from Drama Emperor pulls no punches in this week’s interview!
SWIT’s Long Player of the week is Speaking From A Distance by The BV’s.
We said “I imagine “Speaking From A Distance” (on Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten) being recorded in a village hall somewhere in late spring; shafts of sunlight bend through the cylinder glass panes, tracing ribbons of dust in the air. It’s that kind of record, ain’t it a pretty pretty thing?
The BV’s are Josh Turner (Planet Jazz) and Frederik Jehle (Endlich Blüte) and Speaking From A Distance happened when Fred moved from Augsbur to Falmouth for a spell in 2016.
I use the word happened because that’s how it feels – spontaneous, like you know it was always there, just waiting for someone to open a door. It echoes, it wears its rough edges with pride and it’s all the better for it. I do love the sound and the immaculate tunes, the naturalistic quality of the production only enhances them further.
From the single “Ray”, that kicks off the record, the quality never waivers. “H and M” is my current favourite, a wry, chugging little gem – “you went to New York but the architecture made you bored”. Did I hear someone whisper “future classic”?”
Swit Swoons escaped the monsoon, hid in a typhoon, skirted some dunes and had a cheap beer in Weatherspoons when she heard these sweet tunes ,as recommended by Bedford Falls in our CLASSIC SWIT INTERVIEW!
It’s been a ruff week, but we were never barking up the wrong tree when we asked Ebba from Wy to do something for our esteemed gallery. So it’s chapeuas off to her for this wonderful drawing of a dog wearing a hat !
Beam me up Switty.
