Hi, welcome to SWIT’s Week, our first of 2017. We’re super excited, we’ve had some fantastic music over the past seven days and it feels great to be back in the saddle! So without further ado let’s round up some of the best tunes you’ll hear anywhere from Lizette Lizette, Sale Gosse, Airport City Express, Jean-Michel Blais, Allison Crutchfield, Die Heiterkeit, Mono No Aware, Coco Hames Mark Eitzel, Bilby, Le Vasco, Dream Wife, Woog Riots and Itä-Saksa!
We interviewed Kate from the marvelous Belly Belt.
We raided the archive to hear about the music that moves Tahiti 80.
We were delighted to premiere the new anti-Trump rant called RESIST from Yuzima.
Our Long Player of the week is “Jaune” by Jaune on La Souterraine. SWITTom said “We featured the last couple of releases by Jaune. Now here is his new self-titled LP. It really is a thing of wonder – eight fantastic tunes, any of which would make excellent singles. The record is peopled (?) by nagging, insistent mutli-layered electronic heartbeats, distorted vocals, ghostly pianos and a multitude of tiny, beautiful, addictive hooks. If anything each song is stronger than the last, the final two tracks being my favourites – the uplifting Quai Branly and the altogether darker Seasons.Give it a spin now, it’s a keeper. I LOVE THIS RECORD.” And he does.
Finally, our latest work of art to be hung in La Galleria De La Swit (?) is this wonderful photo by our friend Clémentine March. She says “Here is a very domestic photo of my musical instruments in my room in London (writing a lot of songs these days, for my solo project and my new duet).” We should be hearing some of that music soon, I’m really looking forward to it!
